Hello,

I am looking a building a new public-facing website and considering using Dexterity to build it with.

I think that Dexterity could provide a good foundation but I am looking for someone who has experience dealing with the limitations and benefits of using Dexterity in its current state and who can potentially assist in setting it up and building some objects with it.

I want to start with a conversation around:

    - For example, what are the implications for supporting languages like Spanish, French, etc in the future given some of the current i18n issues.
    - What are the limitations of Dexterity in extending and/or interacting with other AT-based Plone Products?

What are the issues with extending and building on items started using Dexterity?

What are the best ways to efficiently develop and maintain code using Dexterity and any tools to facilitate.

Is it insane to try to build a production site using Dexterity in its current state?

Then after answering the above and others, move into assistance with setting up a Dev environment and building some items.

If you are interested and have a three or more hours to spend on this please send me a note.

Thank you!

Robert

Background
I am starting up a new web site / business and am looking for some (paid) assistance.

I have some familiarity with Plone 2.5 and Archetypes, UML and ArchgenXML. I am looking to build several objects as one or more products.  I have a basic outline of what needs to be done as if it was to be modeled in UML. I like to future proof things. It seems to me that Dexterity is potentially a better foundation to build upon than ArchgenXML. I am looking for help in deciding if building on the Alpha version of Dexterity makes sense and if so potentially one to many hours of assistance in doing it.

It's still pretty early days - we're in alpha, don't forget. :)

Probably nothing that we know about yet. :-)

Internationalisation of the UI should be no problem. But there is no
support for multi-lingual content (LinguaPlone) content with Dexterity
currently.

The known ones are documented in the links above.

Too generic a question, I think. I think Dexterity is probably more
innately extensible than the other alternatives in Plone, but then I'm
biased. :)

Dexterity code is just Plone code. You use the same tools you use for
any custom product.

No. People have done it and are doing it. But you'll be an early
adopter, so you need to understand the risks.

Hopefully I gave you some help for free. ;-)
