Dear friends
I learned the hard way during the last weeks that there is
always one bug left which still has to be fixed. The new ARTE
release
ARTE-02-08-r2
is now with us, and there are presently no known major
bugs preventing Monte Carlo production and reconstruction. Therefore
I can finally release the Monte Carlo production using the above
ARTE version. The distribution of work is appended below.
Please confirm!
Please stick to ARTE-02-08-r2 together with the following libraries:
libvds2-19
Since a problem with the GPACK utility was discovered after completion
of the above release, we will in the beginning have to use the Zebra
I/O format instead. For this reason, do NOT take the kumac from the
directory /afs/desy.de/group/hera-b/ARTE/ARTE-02-08-r2/examples but
please use the mcgenl.kumac from my public afs directory
/afs/desy.de/user/t/tlohse/public/mcgen/ instead. for reconstruction,
a corresponding mcrecl.kumac can be found in the directory
/afs/desy.de/user/t/tlohse/public/mcrec/.

Please use the file
/afs/desy.de/user/t/tlohse/public/mcgen/mcgenl.kumac
together with the standard usevnt.C for production. Steering
parameters are preset, apart from the physics process, the
production site and the run number (first run must be 0001).
Refer to the comments in mcgenl.kumac and to HERA-B 99-098

Test Reconstruction (preliminary!!!) of simulated events:

A preliminary version of the reconstruction tool has also been
published under
/afs/desy.de/user/t/tlohse/public/mcrec/mcrecl.kumac
with a usevnt.C routine specified in the (preliminary) manual in
/afs/desy.de/user/t/tlohse/public/notes/mcrec.ps
(final version and note HERA-B 99-xxx on the way)
Try to reconstruct your events and look at them with the event display
PRISM or even analyse the DST file written out. This is the best way to
find major bugs quickly.
