I made up a chart comparing the 4 mixes. See
http://groups.google.com/group/desertequinebalance/files, see "Custom
Mixes AZ-CA"
If you know your hay came from Imperial Valley, they are a good
choice.
Most Arizona grown hays tend to have higher manganese; the Imperial
Valley would be OK to use with these but not ideal. I still like using
the AZ Regional as a "base" for these (AZ hays), adding poly copper/
poly zinc to boost levels. You can also request HorseTech to increase
the copper/zinc and add iodine to AZ Regional (there will be increased
cost and likely fewer servings per 25#).

Check the AZ-CA additions file to see what you need to add for
magnesium, vit E, flax, etc with these mixes - they all have different
"add in" requirements.
We "could" do a really complete supplement with all the "add ins"
included but its going to take you up in to the $1.50/day or possibly
higher range. I think these choices give you a lot of flexibility
while keeping the cost reasonable.

I haven't ordered AZ First Balance for a while, so I'm not sure of the
current price.

Monique - the files URL should be viewable by your clients without
them needing to join this group; of course, any are welcome to join. I
planned on keeping this group nutrition based but, with both you and
Courtney here, we've got two hoof gurus to answer hoof questions for
us.

when making up the formulas on the charts please include the complete and higher dose mixes, i have a lot of clients that are not concerned with price and/or for them time is more important than price

i actually think i would rather push complete mixes, several times i have gone back to clients and had them show me exactly what they were feeding and they had the numbers/amounts etc mixed up
especially with the way the scoops are on rods stuff

it is just a lot of info for people to absorb, especially if they have all different size horses etc
