Hello DAR!

I'll be at Woodrat tomorrow and would like to fly Bachelor on Sunday
(current GFS MM5 looks decent).
Will you be posting here on Saturday night if you decide to go?

When and where do you normally meet when you go to Bachelor?

I'll try to get online on Saturday night to check the weather and DAR
Google groups.
I would need to leave Applegate Valley early on Sunday morning in
order to get to Bachelor on time.

Thank you!

Oleg

The forecast isn't looking ideal for Bachelor this weekend.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 10am. Partly sunny ...

Sunday: Mostly cloudy ...

Meeting time varies depending on the conditions, but it's often 11:00 am or noon. If anyone is optimistic about Sunday they'll probably post on Saturday evening, but no guarantees.

Do you normally meet at Sunrise Lodge?
Should I be there at 11:00 am?

Thank you!

NOAA forecast for Bachelor tomorrow:

Sunday: A 30 percent chance of snow after 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 34.

Assuming the forecast is right it could be flyable in the early afternoon. I'm going to check the observations in the morning and then decide.

The lapse rate looks better at Pine Mountain so the flying will probably be better out there tomorrow.

The MM5 forecast is still looking reasonable for the early afternoon, but the observations from Mt. Bachelor are showing stronger wind than forecast.

Current Weather - Sunny. Wind at mid-mountain is about 10-15 mph and Summit winds are about 20-25 mph. Visibility is good.

I'm going skiing this morning and will take my glider so I can evaluate conditions and decide whether to fly this afternoon.

Scott MacLowry and I talked at noon and decided to call it off because the summit was still too windy. The MM5 forecast was fairly close to being right yesterday but today it was way off.
