This morning there was a lot of comment on the breakfast news about food wastage in the world. When so many are hungry its amazing that nearly half of the food produced is thrown away.
I am keen to be part of an installation that is being made by the Craftivists Collective in support of Save the Children's, Race Against hunger Campaign.

The idea is that we make fabric jigsaw pieces and write onto them something positive, encouraging and provocative. The art installation will be put up at the G8 this summer to encourage our government to keep this as an important issue.

I will bring along prepared jigsaw pieces on Tuesday January 29 for people to put their messages on. To make sure I have enough it would be good if people let me know if they are going to take part. I have written an article for the website with more information.
I intended to put in a couple of pictures but posted the article and then couldn't find it to edit so have put the pictures into the photo section, maybe Glyn could add them for me.

I am not going to make it to Derby Makers this evening, it is pretty cold and snowy where we are in Belper!
I haven't heard from anyone yet as to coming along to take part in the making the jigsaw pieces. Because they take a while I have cut out and made quite a number of pieces and they are ready to be written on in thread.
It can be a simple running stitch and If you don't have ideas of your own about the words to use I do have some suggestions.

Once they are made they are going to become part of an installation at the G8 supporting Save the Children's Race Against Hunger campaign. I have put something on the Derby Makers website but despite a frustrating hour could not get the links to work or pictures to appear so have written something on my blog http://angeledenblog.com.

It would be good if it were not just ladies as it is a campaign that I am sure lots of us would think important. The Derby Telegraph have booked to come along at 7.15 providing there is not a major story breaking that night.

We did really well last week with the jigsaw pieces. I will bring them along next Tuesday for people to see.

I will also bring some fabric so that anyone who wishes to, can continue with the activity, however it is not an organised workshop.

After Tuesday I will be posting them off as the first installation is in Manchester on Friday March 1st.
