Topic: Understanding the Default Trace
Abstract:
Presenter Bio:
Jonathan Kehayias is a MCITP Database Administrator, MCITP Database Developer, and SQL Server MVP who got started with SQL Server in early 2004 as a database developer and report writer for Infinite Energy Inc. After two and a half years working in TSQL, in late 2006 he transferred to the role of SQL Database Administrator for OSI Restaurant Partners in Tampa, FL. He has experience in consolidating and upgrading SQL Environments, running SQL Server in virtualized environments, and performance tuning TSQL code. He can often be found on the MSDN SQL Server Forums, or at the local Tampa SQL Server User Group meetings.
Introduced in SQL Server 2005, the default trace is an often overlooked resource when investigating the who, what, and when of what happened in SQL Server. In this session, SQL Server MVP Jonathan Kehayias will take a look at the Default Trace and how it can be used to take a look into the past to find out what has occured on your server.
