Hi all,

we're using CGP 5.1.16 on OSX 10.5.

Is there a way to stop CGP sending out LIST posting errors:

"You cannot post messages because you are not subscribed to this list"
and
"You are not allowed to post messages on this list"

for example.

These message cause our server IP to get on the UCEPROTECT backscatterer.org DNSBL.

backscatterer.org sends out a test message to a list address and the returned error mail get us listed:

----

Thanks.

Hello Jona.

Unfortunately it seems there is no built-in solution for that problem, but I'm working on an external filter which, when ran synchronously (requires CGP 5.1+), may be able to fix the backscatter caused by the LIST module until Stalker fixes it.

I will post a message on the list when/if the filter is ready.

Nicolas

New filter:

http://www.niversoft.com/products/cgscripts/pro#listbackscatter

Currently beta-quality code, more testing required.

This filter runs on messages sent to a list. It tries to match the sender address / From header to the list subscribers, and verify the right to post to the list and, with the help of CGP sync rules, rejects the message at SMTP level instead of letting CGP generate a bounce.

It currently prevents the "You cannot post messages because you are not subscribed to this list" and "You are not allowed to post messages on this list" bounces.

A future version should also be able to prevent the "unsubscribe failed: you have not been subscribed" bounces.

Contact me offlist if you need more information.

Regards
Nicolas Hatier

Mailspect can do this on CGP if you can't find a solution.
