Dear all,

We are very pleased to inform you that five bicycle stations cum rental facilities will be opening on Delhi BRT corridor very soon.

DCC would like to thank Delhi Government's Transport Department and the Delhi Integrated Multi-modal Transit System (DIMTS for making it the possibility. We would also like to thank the media for highlighting cause of and issues related to cycling prominently now-a days.

Now more and more people will be able to enjoy cycling in delhi specially on BRT corrdior for going to work, school/colleges, shpooing or fun trip and also for using bicycle as feeder to BRT buses. We urge you to start benefiting from this and start cycling more often and make this facility a success.

Please find attached a press coverage carried in today's The Indian Express newspaper on this development.

regards,

Rajendra Verma

Hi Rajendra,

I appreciate the work that DCC is doing to set these rental stations
up. Thank You.

Can you or someone on the list elaborate with with more details about
how the stations work?

--Rental timings? Can you rent for more than one day at a time? Let's
say 1 week etc. I often have guests from out of town in Delhi for
weeks at a time. Often they would like to have exclusive access to a
bicycle while they're here.

--Can you rent from one location and drop off in another, like the
Velibs in Paris?

Best,

Tak

Hi Tak,

I would like to clarrify that DCC is not setting up the bike stations. It made several presentations to DIMTS, Delhi Government and MCD duirng this 2009 recommending for need and suggesting modalities for bike sharing/rental  facilities. We have been involved for some time DIMTS and MCD in discussions and bicycle promotion in Delhi.

DCC was requested by DIMST and we were considering to start and manage the bike stations but we opted out in the end due to various considerations. Now its being done by cmpany called Planet AD which is also handling bike rentals at 3 metro stations in Delhi.

However we would gather more information on bike rentals at BRT corrdior as it unfolds and send them to you and all other group members shortly.

regards,

Rajendra
