On March 17 of last year – the first day of the NATO attack against Libya – the U.S. military launched between 50 and 100 Tomahawk cruise missiles against that African country. (CBS News) Hundreds more were launched in the following weeks.
Each of those cruise missiles cost U.S. taxpayers just over $800,000.
That means that not firing just 10 cruise missiles could have eliminated Richmond's school budget deficit.
Unless we start addressing this issue of military vs. domestic spending, there will be no solutions to the attacks on our jobs, schools, housing and health care.
I would urge all those able to attend tonight's Richmond City Council meeting (6 pm at Richmond City Hall, 900 E. Broad St.) to raise this issue and call on Council to demand the federal government provide “Money for Jobs & Education, not for Wars & Occupations!”
