Beta testing

Searching for beta testers...

Preferrably those with a serial interface on his device, for now, so
one can run the tests in RAM, without flash writing.

Please let me know if any.

I finally got Dealextremes Nokia interface cable and connected Rx,Tx
and ground to the corresponding
soldering pots on the device -- now I have a 'slightly clearer' window
into its doings..

Observations:
Both memory- and processor-chips markings are untouched on my board
[ in good ole chinese/taiwanese tradition they're removed to keep
'inhouse sources and pricing' off competitors ] . Also a relatively
large handsign O close to the
memory chip .. -- this might be w.o. any significance, but is probably
worth mentioning.

Seen during my 'light watching only days'..

Using the originally supplied ethernet pig-tail is NOT recommended -
the ethernet connection is pretty unstable with
it. Changing to a 'basement supplied' pig-tail removed most of the
instabilities.

The 'most' in my case are now just 'casual' happenings of 'running
out of memory' and triggering oom . Write
transfer-speed via ftp [ multiple streams ] can be as high as 450 KB/s
and reaches for single streams 250 KB/s .

Before I go further - I would appreciate if somebody could make the U-
boot config available.

Obviously I'm willing to 'test' [ what kernel-sources are You
currently using ? ] - but I would like to get the 'little jewel'
first behaving w.o. errors on startup with the current stuff..

I saved the following files on ftp://beiben.no-ip.org [ the 'little

My_initial_Power_UP_U_Boot_without_device.txt - it looks like U-Boot
has a bum config -- could somebody pls load up
a 'good' config.

My_reboot_w_1TB_USB_disk.txt - an NTFS-formatted portable disk which I
use as a backup/storage medium -- its
[ acccount/password ] protected and reachable via ftp from Windoze,
Linux and MAC. Also reachable from all 3 systems
as a mountable file-system.

My_6GB_ftp_transfer.txt - the result of copying a 6GB iso file [ MAC
'live DVD' ] onto above disk [ I've not yet verified this
transfer via checksum ] -- but see the oom sections captured on the
serial line ..

My_Out_of_Memory_on_short_transfers.txt -- these are results of
afterwards transferring a couple of small files

If you want the U-boot partition (wich already includes U-boot config,
you can see it with an hex editor in offset 0x19B54), it is here in
the files section of the forum.

I'm currently using LSDK sources from cnusers forum:

Our device uses the STR8132 processor (in the site it's also referred
as CNS21xx).

After some changes to the toolkit to better suit our device, including
mtd settings to fit the flash, wich is smaller in our board than in
the reference board, will release the modified sources here too.
