Cups probleme mit Hp PSC 2410

ich hatte bei einem Bekannten gestern Abend unter Debian sarge Probleme
einen HP PSC 2410 zu Drucken zu überreden :(.
Probiert habe ich sowohl die Debian Pakete (hpoj und hpijs) als auch die
aktuellen Treiberversionen von sourceforge/HP
Scannen geht, ptal-print sagt mir auch alles wäre ok, dennoch zuckt der
Drucker bei Abschicken der Cups Testpage nur kurz an, zieht das Papier
ein, um dann stehen zu bleiben :(. Cups verwaltet noch einen HP 4000 N
(über ethernet angebunden), der einwandfrei mitspielt.
Wenn ich bewusst den raw Treiber, statt dem psc 2400 Treiber verwende
spuckt der Drucker auch was von Adobe Post Script Version 3.0 und ein
paar wilde Zeichen aus.
Ich hänge mal unten den log Auszug mit gesetztem debug von cups an
(soory, wg. Länge). Das Problem liegt IMHO bei der von mir mit

Aber nachdem was ich zu diesem Debian Paket fand:

Nehme ich mal an, dass die Problemlösung der FAQ schon etwas angestaubt
ist und in diesem Fall nicht wirklich weiterhilft (Versuch mit
installiertem pnm2ppa brachte erwartungsgemäß auch nichts :()
Nach allem was ich weiss, funktionieren diese Drucker 24xx einwandfrei
unter Linux.
Jemand eine Idee wo ich noch ansetzen könnte?

Ich habe im Moment exakt das gleiche Problem (allerdings mit einem PSC
2355 und unter Debian sid). Fuer Tips waere ich also ebenso dankbar.
Mit der Ubuntu 5.10 Live CD funktioniert der Drucker bei mir ... was
jetzt genau den Unterschied macht, ist mir aber nicht ersichtlich.

Hier der Vollstaendigkeit halber die Loesung in meinem Falle: das
Kernel-Modul (CONFIG_USB_PRINTER) zur Unterstuetzung von USB-Druckern
fehlte ... (zugegeben, ziemlich daemlich von mir).
