Which is your favourite movie-robot?
Johnny 5 hands down.
Monty
Marvin.

Trying to stir up a little activity on this group. Well, I will
contribute a bit...
I've always liked Robbie the Robot. Off the top of my head, I think he
is the only robot to be featured in multiple show; The Forbidden
Planet, Lost in Space, and a few others.

As a kid, Robert the Robot from Fireball XL-5 (transparent) was WAAAAAY
cool (not just because of the name, but he could fly a rocket-ship!), and
I (still) have a Great Garloo from when I was a tot, but that's a
different topic, entirely.

Yeah, Robbie is no doubt THE classic TV/Film robot. It's been in many
shows over the years - a good list is shown in wikipedia...

However, he wasn't in Lost in Space. That was B9, designed by the same
guy, but different enough that you can can't consider it the same robot.
Robbie walked with legs for example, B9 had tracks.

Fun thing I just found - Robbie vs B9 Java web game like PacMan...

I would have to vote for R2 as my favorite but I really like them all.
Might have to pick Cameron Phillips as my second favorite, but that's
almost not fair since she's really just a human and doesn't wear _any_
costume you could call robotic (except when see's been in a fight).

Well are we talking about Lost in Space the movie remake or the
orginal Lost in Space TV series?
I believe Robbie was in the Lost in Space tv series....But I could be
wrong :)
Now what was R2 without and interpreter, just a beeping trash
can:) :)
Monty
Yes, you are wrong.
Compare the robots in:

vs.

don
The Lost in Space Robot referred to it as a "robotoid," saying "It is
more than a machine...it is a robotoid."
Hence the name of my domain - robotoid.com.
I think we could find a connection to Kevin Bacon in here somewhere, if
we try hard enough!

First choice would be Gort. Second choice would be the automaton in
Kronos.
I guess that shows my age, but as a kid these two robots scared the
bejeebies out of me. I recall being the only one awake in the house in
the morning (which strikes me odd as we had nine people living there at
the time!), sitting in the kitchen eating my cereal. I'd hear this
tick-tick-tick sound I was sure was Gort coming to get me.
I was an adult before I figured out what the sound was - a wall heater
turning on and expanding.
It was then I decided I'd either get into building robots, or install
air conditioning and heating units.

As for my favorite-Yule Brenner in Westworld as the gunslinger. The
repair area scenes after he was shot to pieces still fascinates me
today. Maybe in another twenty years a real westworld will open for
business......Although I probably won't be able to afford admission!
Mark
I never knew they were designed by the same guy!
Robby wasn't a regular on LiS, but he did make at least one guest
appearance that I remember.
V.I.N.CENT from the Black Hole(1979)
because he sounded like Cornelius from
Planet of the Apes.
Got to be the Terminator.. ultimate AI device..ultimate killing machine...
ultimate workhorse... ultimate everything...
