Black History Month Event: 

 

Mainly for political reasons, Latinos are many times grouped into a single category:  Latinos, or Hispanics.   But Latinos living in America are as diverse as the country itself.  Please tune in on February 24^th, at 6:00PM as the DC Latino Caucus hosts "The State of Afro-Latinos in America," during Black History Month.   Is there legitimacy to the claim that Univision likes more light-skin looking Latinos over  dark-skin looking Latinos for their TV programming?    Do most Afro-Latinos feel isolated by African Americans, further alienating this group?   Watch live on the internet as Mr. Roland Roebuck, a  DC activist, and a leading  nationally recognized spokesperson on issues that impact Afro-Descendants, discuss this sometimes neglected group.  This live 20 minutes speech will be carried live from the Josephine Butler Center to the world over the internet, and recorded in high definition for later viewing on YouTube.  A limited number of seats will be available on-site for in person viewing.  To learn about Mr. Roebuck, who will be feature on the Smithsonian's upcoming series, "Considering the Afro-Latino experience" http://www.latino.si.edu/newsevents/#/?i=1, please visit: http://www.dclc.org/docs/Roland_Emerson_Roebuck.pdf.
