Subject: Upcoming action on LGBT cases
To: USA

Dear all
This is to let you know that we will shortly (within the next two weeks) be
sending out two separate actions involving 3 separate incidents of police
abuse of LGBT individuals in and around Chicago. Chicago is currently
bidding to host the 2016 Olympic games, and city officials, especially the
Mayor, are particularly concerned about Chicago's image internationally.
The action, which will use the opportunity of the 2008 Chicago Pride event
in June to pressure the Mayor of Chicago to speak out publicly about the
cases and on the issue of police abuse in general, will complement a high
profile media/public event being organised by AIUSA and broader local
community stakeholders. It is hoped that international action can be
organised to coincide with the 2008 Chicago Pride event in June (19-29 June)
to pressure the Mayor of Chicago to speak out publicly about the cases and
on the issue of police abuse in general.
Best wishes
Debbie
