Subject: Thank you Swim for Life participants!

Thank you to everyone on DCAC who participated in Saturday's Swim for Life-
either as donors, swimmers, or volunteers.  We raised over $25,000, and had
a record number of swimmers.  Swim for Life highlights and results will be
posted soon on the DCAC website.

Special thanks go to DCAC members Neill, Steve, Heather, Bronwen,
Jean-Phillipe (the photographer with checklist!), Dan, Joey, Sue, Mason,
Jonathan, and John and Ellyn Vail who did a lot of the behind the scenes
work dealing with lost buoys, bookmarks, envelope stuffing, Cosco trips, and
researching chicken places, among others.

And I particularly want to thank Wonkee, Mike Pletke, and Dawson.  Swim for
Life is still alive because you all keep the tradition going.  I learned a
lot from you.  Thank you.

*My Rivers*
by Ann Hennessy

My rivers, Lord, are not
clear bubbly brooks
tumbling down mountainsides
to dwell in shady nooks

Nor are they mighty torrents
hurried in their flow
spilling over concrete dams
to reach new depths below

My rivers, Lord, are gentle hands
spreading fingers through level lands
nourished by endless ebb and flow of tides
feeding famished salt marsh by their sides

Their scent and sound and face
transport me to a sacred place
to a sun-tanned child who knows
the squish of creek mud between her toes
put-put of waterman's skiff in early morn
and the distant moan of a fog horn

My rivers smell of life and death
of fish and crabs and brackish breath
My rivers are a part of me
They link me to eternity

On behalf of all DCAC members I want to thank Nell and Kathy for all their hard work.  The event was a complete success, not only due to the incredible increase in participation and donation, but also efficiency with which the event was run.  A great time was had by all.  Congrats.

Jonathan
