I have in-laws coming next weekend, and I need a good place to take them for
Sunday brunch. I have had the Watergate recommended to me, but I was hoping
for something with a view and/or outdoors seating.

Hm. Have you thought about the Corcoran? It's inside, but it may rain
on Sunday. And the main hall of the gallery is a nice view.

And there's also Cashion's, on Columbia Rd. They have nice outdoor
seating.

you might take a look at

OK, it's not outside and there's no view, but the best Sunday Brunch in the
area is at the 1789 room at the Maryland Inn in Annapolis. The food is
fabulous and the service is impeccable.

If you don't want to go that far, the Virginia Beverage Company on King
Street in Old Town has a very nice brunch too, not quite as much
variety--but a nice selection and very tasty.

You might want to call Cedar Knoll (off the GW parkway just north of Mt.
Vernon). Don't know if they do brunch, but the menu food is excellent and
the view of the river can't be beat. Definitely an exception to the usual
rule: "the better the view, the worse the food."

One of my favorite buffet-type brunch's is the kitchen brunch at the Terrace
Restaurant at the top of the Kennedy Center. Windows all around, so the view is
good (Potomac River, Roosevelt Island, National Airport). Musicians. Champagne
(one glass free). Tremendous variety and selection. Must have a reservation.
It probably will be raining on Sunday, but KC has parking.

Tony & Joe's in Georgetown, on the K street waterfront. There is outdoor
dining ordinarily, but I don't think it's applicable for the brunch (a
buffet, but the best brunch buffet I have come accross, with LOTS of fresh
seafood). Nonetheless, you can look out the window and see the Potomac, the
Kennedy Center, and all.

One of our favorite brunch places is Hogates on the DC waterfront.
Excellent quality and selection with a very pleasant atmosphere. Outside
tables on the water as well.
