DBFit hanging

I am running Oracle queries using DBFit (dbfit-complete-20080822). For
short running queries everything works great. However, if the test
contains a slightly longer running query (e.g. 1 minute) the result is
that:
- query continues to run (I see this by monitoring in Oracle) and
finishes successfully
- subsequent queries in the same DBFit test continue to run and
succeed
However DBFit hangs (keeps showing : Running Tests)
There is no error message - just a frozen screen.

Is there some timeout on DBFit (how long it waits for input from the
database)?
Is there any way of changing it?

Regards,

Darek

I haven't seen this behaviour before but I don't use long running
queries. I use just enough data to test functionality. Are you
performance testing?

I don't think there's a timeout in dbfit (1.1). There might be in 2.0
if you can get it working.

Hi Mark,
No, it is not a performance testing, just plain functionality testing.
However, when testing functionality in a data warehouse, one minute
queries are considered quite quick :-)

You mentioned dbfit 2.0. Where is it available? I could not find
distribution package for it.

Does anybody else have an idea if there is some command timeout in
effect when you run DBFit 1.1 and if it can be changed?

Thanks,
Darek

Derek,

I use DbFit to test data warehouse ETL and DB objects.

I understand DWH production reports/queries/analyes may process vast amounts of data.

But, to test functionality you really don't generally need much data at all to cover all of your test cases. So I still think effective tests should run in a very short time.

DbFit 2.0 is available on SourceForge in source code form only. The (maven build) dependencies are available from ZIP file from a link on one of the posts on this forum.
