Hi there,
I haven't seen a document on your homepage related with the roadmap
for DB Solo. I would like to know what are the planned enhancements/
improvements/future development plans for DB Solo. Is there a roadmap
exists ? where can I find it ? Can you post it on your homepage ?
I have been using Oracle's free SqlDeveloper tool for sometime, which
is also java based and runs on many Linux flavors - being able to run
on Linux was my top filtering when searching for tools such as DB
Solo, which can do more than what SqlDeveloper can currently capable
of. I liked some of the features in DB Solo such as being able to see
the graphical relationship diagram with a simple click. Comparing the
data between schemas is also another plus. I have been testing the DB
Solo for a day or so and found it very promising very capable. I have
also used (compiled the latest version of tora on Ubuntu and though it
is painful to install/configure the latest version from source
(requires Qt latest version, etc) - once it is compiled it is Ok to
use - comparable to toad (commercial version of tora). I found DB
Solo much superior to tora (I haven't tested toad 10, which is solely
for windows OS and much more expensive than DB Solo - so can not
compare the capabilities and don't want to use a windows VM just to be
able to use tora. DB Solo seems to be the tool for it's price. One
nice thing tora has is being able to compile invalid objects in batch
mode, which SqlDeveloper can not do (have to compile each object one
at a time) - unless you write your own sql script (which I have) or
use the OEM of Oracle. Can DB Solo do that (current version) ? If
not, that will be a nice improvement in the next version/patchset
version. Another nice feature will be being able to convert/export
the database schema into xml (not the data - DB Solo can do it for
each table, similar to SqlDeveloper - what I am talking about is the
reverse engineering the schema into an xml file - like exporting the
schema into sql as it is currently possible in DB Solo and
SqlDeveloper ).
I like to see the statement of direction or a document showing the
planned future enhancements on your homepage before committing to DB
Solo. I believe I found what I was looking for and currently it has
some + features compared to SqlDeveloper and worth to pay 99$ and keep
updating.
Please let me know.
Best regards
