Is this the first time?? If we are going to have a camp fire for Memorial Day I think we need a permit?

If it’s like the Forest Service, there is no charge and it’s good for the year.

Just reading there are 3 stages in a stage 2 you cannot have an open campfire even with a permit.

I just found out that a permit is required and it can only be picked up at the BLM Offices for BLM land.

This is a quote from the BLM website.

"Permits are available through the CDD office, all BLM field offices, fire/ranger stations, and from all BLM patrol personnel. "

The BLM Offices are only open 8am – 4:30pm.

You can also get Fire Permits from the Apple Valley Fire Station (? Not sure if this is a BLM station or where it’s at).  The Fire Station would keep longer hours than a BLM office.

BLM Rangers can issue these in the field … if you can find them or if they find you.

Forest Service Fire Permits will not work.

I understand but when I had a club member called, they stated only from BLM offices.

I just found this.... and we did more calling and a lady from the BLM (BLM CDD office) stated that you can go to this site and answer the 4 question and print and fill it out and your done....  (I sure hope this is true.... what a farce)

Jesse,

That link leads to a Forest Service fire permit.  Not good enouogh according to the BLM office that I spoke with.

Campfire safety is apparently different in the desert :idiots:
