Hello,

Would be grateful for a copy of the manual / instructions for a DF 2
M001 or the connector/pin details for input DB9 socket - audio in and
AGC in.

Unit I have has RSSI led disply at max with no input - is this normal
with no connections?

Thank you,
D

G'day Doug,

I have 2 Datong DF2 units with the full service manual. I'll see if I can scan in the relevant page for you.

Pin 1 Common Gnd
Pin 2 NC
Pin 3 NC
Pin 4 NC
Pin 5 NC
Pin 6 Audi I/P to audio monitor ch
Pin 7 Audio I/P to DF ch
Pin 8 Loudspeaker O/P
Pin 9 I/P to sig strength indicator

The RSSI, relative range display in the manual, requires 0 - 4V from the AGC and trimmers H and L on the rear panel set the upper and lowerv limits respectively.

I have one with the remote head as well and all are in working order connected to AOR3000 receivers.

Cheers

Brian

No problem Doug,

I have attached a scan of the DF2 operation manual to hopefully help things along.

Cheers

Brian

Excellent, I'll probably work with two RXs, the Air 7 and the in car mobile 8900 quad band for signal level. Not checked the R8500, info appreciated.

Many thanks and take care out there.

Best regards,
Doug

G'day Doug,

The RSSI is actually 2.7V max but if I remember correctly the AGC out on
the R8500 is inverted ie 0V is max sig and 2.5V is min sig so stick with
the AOR.

Actually I never bothered with the RSSI connection but it is there to use
if you want. I just used the S meter in the radio as my sig strength
indicator.

As for spacing I used about 150mm which worked fine down to 115Mhz and up
to 600 MHz. All I did was change the antenna whips to the appropriate
length for VHF or UHF as necessary. They are very forgiving units and work
over a broad range. 500mm whips should work fine for 145MHz.

Hope that helps.

Regards

Brian
