Dear RS700 Sailors,
I am writing in order to organize training sessions on RS700s.
After 2 years owning the boat, during which I literally “re-learnt” how to sail, I found that training sessions with coaches from the class, or with coaches who have significant experience in skiff sailing, were extremely helpful in improving my skills and the fun I get out of the boat. Just a few hours on the water with a coach gave me answers to the problems I faced and allowed me to improve drastically – I could have saved months of “rough” sailing if I had had proper training sessions from the beginning.
Because of the great help I got from such sessions, I would like to organize regular training at Datchet with other RS700 sailors. I am thinking about organizing two types of events, if there is enough interest:
1) Training with one of the RS700 coaches from RS, maybe twice a year. We had trainings last year with Ian Nolan, and I found them very helpful. It seems the coach is now Mark Pollington, and he has asked me to gauge interest for another session sometime next year. If you are interested, can you please let me know and also tell me when you think would be good. What about March/April?
2) I have had a few private sessions with Ian from the Datchet Sailing school, and he is very experienced in skiff sailing, and is a really good instructor. I am doing regular sessions with him. It is great on my own, but if other boats join it will be even better, as we can then compare settings / techniques etc. and I think it will be a very good learning experience for everyone. If interested, please let me know. I am thinking about organizing one session a month, or every two months. Based on the interest we get, the price will vary, but it is not going to be very expensive… so if you are interested in that, please let me know.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Guillaume
