Is it me or are we missing this event in Toronto - I see a reference
to the RHoK http://www.rhok.org/event/toronto-canada but nothing about
the Intl Hackathon event. Last year we had a joint event co-chaired
by Heather Leson and Mark Kuznicki. What's happening this year ... as
in next weekend?

Hi there,

I'm hosting Random Hacks of Kindness and we're also hacking for Open
Data Hackathon Day on December 3rd and 4th. The City of Toronto has
put forth a
couple of scenarios, but it would be great to have more Open DataTO
participants.

Still looking for a couple of volunteers to make this weekend happen
so if you're interested, please email me at melani...@gmail.com.

Here is the relevant information:

Toronto is Hacking for Humanity and Open Data on December 3 and 4th.

Join us for a weekend long codethon and compete for the best prize for
a completed hack!

Our fourth global Random Hacks of Kindness event will bring big
change. As announced at our last global event in June, RHoK has
broadened its scope beyond its origins in Disaster Risk Management
(DRM) to include all development sectors. The global water community
came together for a Water Hackathon in 10 cities this October, and
efforts to hack autism with touch technology are already underway.
We're excited to announce that Toronto is partnering with Open Data
Hackathon Day to hack on December 3 & 4th. The Hackathon is pleased to
welcome the University of Toronto, Commons11, The Baitshop, CSI and
Nokia as sponsors and community partners.

The Toronto and Montreal communities have answered to a call for
developers, subject matter experts and volunteers to come together for
a weekend of problem solving, idea hacking and innovation. All in the
name of social change, Random Hacks of Kindness has evolved into a
community of people around the world committed to making change
through collaboration.

Toronto will hack on problems from the Toronto Parks and Recreation,
Toronto Cycling Community, WaterVoices and more will be added in the
lead up to the event.

Schedule:

Reception:

Thursday December 1st: 6pm-8pm No One Writes to the Colonel.

Join us on Thursday night where we will introduce the scenarios we
will be hacking and talk a bit about the process of a hackathon. Great
for first timers and experienced hackers alike!

Great to see Melanie! I'll help get the word out. What's the best link
