If you look at the main standards here[1] and here[2] these are mostly
involved in publishing data. There's actually quite large amounts of
FOAF, XFN, hCard and of course RSS/Atom out there. But with the
exception of RSS/Atom, there's surprisingly little that reads it and
uses it. It's similar story with OpenID where it feels like the
providers outnumber the consumers.

What can we do to encourage more consumption?
