Does anyone know anything about this? Is it using open standards like
MySpace plans? Oauth, Microformats etc?

Who knows?

My guess is that it's yet another authentication, profile transfer and
contact list transfer standard. Like we need that!

What may be more interesting is the rapid maturing of the OpenSocial
Restful Data API, which clearly MySpace have a big hand in.

It doesn't look like there are any standards involved.

Although, since Digg is supporting open standards (http://
blog.digg.com/?p=120) you should perhaps be able to do a work-around,
similar to the Identitu.de app that works as an OpenID provider.

Does anyone have any contact details for someone there? We were
working on a module(s) for Drupal that would help do exactly this, but
we're going to put things on hold for a while now that this has popped
up. So now we don't know where to go.... gah!

Uno.

a Drupal module(s) would indeed be very interesting.

I believe there are several facebook employees on this public list-
not sure who they all are. However i know Dave Morin is a member and
he is the Senior Platform Manager at Facebook
http://groups.google.com/groups/profile?enc_user=IfwLnxMAAACDg2osLet9TsRTAPfqmSI6WMj6vob75xS36mXc24h6ww

i however expect that he like others are very busy probably leaves
them little time to participate in these discussions but hopefully
they will start sharing some of the details soon- if not here at least
on their own public forums.

To me most of this sounds like it's proprietary.. which IMHO does not
make that much sense.
There is OAuth out there including libraries. If you want adoption,
then why not use it? While it
would be nice of course to implement all those different formats for
each site (like Drupal, Plone,
social networks) it would make more sense for everybody to use what is
already out there.
If there is an issue with it then it shouldn't be too problematic to
talk to the people and help
fixing it.

(but maybe you cannot go out there and talk to people because then
everybody wonders what you
do with it.. Now that the announcement is out and we know they are
doing something with it, maybe
this can change ;-) ).

PS: I haven't seen a comments section on the FB developers blog maybe
adding one would also be a great way
to interact with your developer community.
