Started a Buzz page.

Please add in quotes and links to buzz around DP - particularly those
from larger blogs and media.

Click on http://groups.google.com/group/dataportability-public/web/buzz
- or copy & paste it into your browser's address bar if that doesn't
work.

I added some 'useful links' to the page:

Why is a Buzz page necessary?

Because if you're going to be telling a story, it's nice to know who's
listening and how their understanding the message :)

Adding the Timeline events into a database to simplify maintenance and
enable the ability to display/export into various formats (eg. HTML
for G-Groups page, RSS for readers, etc.).

I anticipate the G-Groups page to be fully updated using the database
version by EOD 1/31/2008.

Completed the conversion of existing Timeline milestone dates into a
database. This page will now be easier to maintain. Further, if
there is any interest, we can explore creating additional output
formats (eg. RSS) as warranted.

NOTE: I'm still working on an administrative interface to add new
events, so for now please send them to me and I'll insert them.

I'm in full swing trying to fill out the Timeline database. From what
I can tell, the dates around these formats/projects below will paint a
rich picture of the historical context of Data Portability in general,
and provide a good backdrop to the DataPortability Project.

Are there any in this list that should not be included, or others I'm
missing?

openID
oAuth
XMPP
RSS
APML
YADIS
OPML
hCard
XFN
FOAF
XOXO
SPARQL
SIOC
microID
SAML
Higgins
RDF
Atom
OpenLDAP

how exhaustive do you really want to be with this list? anything
identity related? what about policy/privacy work such as p3p? there
is a good starter list of those at the PLING wiki [1]. also over at
ID commons there is a good enumeration (some of which you have
already listed) [2] whic might help. It all kinda hinges around
scope :-P ... and i am sure there are many more I've failed to
mention or am unaware of.

My 2cents being -

- consider adding hCalendar and hResume
- consider removing OpenLDAP (or else what about the others that pertain to implementations)

Aaron.

Added dates around the major OpenID specification releases.

Perhaps we should include XSPF - the portable playlist format (defined
at xspf.org).

"Historic context" goes back much farther then  December 2007.
I think you might find the report about the activities of Identity Commons for our last quarter of work interesting.  It also has links to our history that began in 2001 when we were first founded. http://www.idcommons.net/node/17

Highlights include information from OpenID, the Internet Identity Workshop and OSIS (Open Source Identity System) along with everything else going on.

There is a conversation about DP joining IC as a working group - this would be cool because it contextualizes your work within the collaborative community of technical project and projects dealing with the social and legal aspects of people and their data moving around the web.

Enjoy,

Richard - Thanks for the catch. I updated the DB table to increase
the URL field (it was truncating the links).

Kaliya - Agreed, and many thanks for the suggestion. I've got dates
back to 1998 so far, and will keep weaving the developments into the
story.

Thanks for the watchful eyes,
Trent
