Subject: DBUG> Associative Dimension Stretch

Making changes to a plan I am needing to stretch my associative
dimensions.  How do I know where the point of the extension was if the
dimension was not stretched with the wall corner.  Is there some sort
of indicator that I can turn on, I find myself either deleting the
dimension and creating new or moving the string far away from my
drawing, stretching a large area to catch the point in no-man’s land
and then moving back.

We don’t use a lot of associative dimensions but I am trying to get
into it more and more.

I didn’t find my answer on the forum posts, so many to search thru.

Adam:

I think you are looking for Utility/Display/Dim Points.

Glad to hear you are using associative dimensions. You will be much happier and much more accurate if you use them at all times, trust me (us). Without them you never really know the measure of something, especially when it gets changed one or more times.

Associative Dimensions, Associative Hatches and Text Scale. These are 3 of the CAD commandments!

Go to Display and turn on Dim Points (position F0 on the Display
menu).

Under Display/DimPoints will show the point that was originally
dimensioned

Hey Adam.
In your display settings turn on dimension points, then hit "u" to to
regenerate the drawing.
You will see a dot in the same color as your dimension at the point
where the end of the line used to be.
You can snap to that dot as the first point in the stretch command and
the new end of the line where the dimension point needs to be.
Stick with the associative dimensions. Otherwise you cannot trust your
drawings.
If your having trouble with small fractions you can turn on rounding
under "dim-style" in the dimension menu.

I think what you want is to turn on the dimension point

Utility/Display/DimPoints
