Description: general questions regarding dashy (http://www.mirios.com.au/dashy)

dashy website down
But not dead; its just hosting related. I will get onto it later in the week, I doubt this is concerning anyone greatly though :) Let me know if, for some reason, you desperately need the latest build, and I will get it to you. -- silky [link] [link]... more »

new feature: javascript + cookie hiding/showing on the client
small feature, but useful when you have lots of projects configured on the client. probably won't scale to thousands of client projects; will need another solution for that.

latest version contains ability to force a commit message when deploying on dashy client
As per subject. If you set it, it will override whatever commit message it would otherwise use (i.e. the last commit message for the trunk). This effectively allows you to write release notes as commit messages, and then retrieve them on the other side via the "%dashy.commithistory%" variable ([link]).... more »

late-setting of variables
I've noted that it may be appropriate to set some variables only on the server (and leave them unset on dashy client). My plan for this will be to: 1. get you to set the variable to itself on dashy client ("$foo = $foo"). 2. provide a similar variable-setting process on the server (either via a task [which means it they need to be set per-instance], or... more »

[link] finally got this done (internet was stable enough to be up). i'm working on the items i've raised previously, deploy local is high on the agenda.

git support off the agenda, for now
Having created myself a github account, and doing a very cursory review of what is involved, it is only fair to say that I will, for now, not bother with git support. My reasons are: 1. I would need to distribute/require the entire "portable git" download, which is 138 meg, uncompressed, as part of the standard... more »

'deploy all' feature added
I've just added a 'deploy all' button to dashy client; this means that you may now click this, instead of having to click 'deploy' on all the instances specifically. It will deploy them one-by-one (as separate commits to source control).

upcoming features
my major items of development in the next few weeks will be: - provide an interface for editing all the various options you can't at the moment (sorting, etc) - present an elegant solution to the 'deploy local' problem - make it such that the repo type must be selected on the client as well - tentatively look at support for other version control systems... more »
