Dear Community and Friends,

As many know our friend Tom Rotello passed away this past week on Tuesday morning. To honor Tom, there will be a Memorial Circle this Saturday the 17th at First Churches of Northampton at 129 Main Street, from 6pm-8pm.

Following the circle, all are welcome to attend Pollinate, a local dance event at the First Churches from 9pm - 1am. Pollinate is a deeply inspired electronic music dance party. This November's Pollinate had been organized as a fundraiser for Tom and will now celebrate his life and also raise funds for Tom's family.  

Many community members will also be dancing in celebration of Tom at Dance Spree on Friday Night on the 4th floor of the Fitzwilly Building.

And we have created a facebook page for the sharing of memories, photos, and thoughts - http://www.facebook.com/InMemoryofTomRotello?ref=ts&fref=ts.

Thanks, Spirit, for that news.

Here is some more information about the tribute to Tom at Dance Spree on Friday night mentioned below:

Dance Spree was Tom's home dance, and for years and years he was famous for arriving there a bit before midnight, just when the DJs thought the night to be winding down, plunging himself spiritually into the dance floor & injecting it w/a bonus wave of energy. All the Dance Spree DJs knew exactly what the phrase "Tom Time" meant!

Over the past couple of days Dance Spree DJs past & present have been compiling a list of songs that we associate w/Tom, & this friday night, at "Tom Time," we will play a mini-set of those songs to remember & celebrate him. They run the range one expects at Spree, from mournful and spiritual to jubilant & even silly.

We hope that all of you who have danced with Tom over the years, & especially during that end-of-the-night time, his time, will come by (by around 11:30pm or so) and share in a community dance for him.

If you have a song you know should be part of that set, please do share it!

We will of course also be remembering Tom, and devote time for sharing, during the community circle.
