This is the time of the year when inclusion and exclusion can hurt or heal. Many blended families will be getting together and, by circumstance not choice, some people will feel excluded. Born out of wedlock, divorces, adoptions, strained relationships. These are all worldly situations. Here's the deal: a sincere effort to include someone is Christ-like. Sometimes we are in certain circumstances because of our decisions. Sometimes we are there because of someone else's decision. The important point is that we are there.
If God gives you the opportunity to include, don't let the opportunity go past you. Try to remember...
" 'You are doing the deeds of your father' They said to Him, 'We were not born of fornication; we have one Father: God.' " John 8:41
This fact trumps biology.
Bad relationships can be healed. Sometimes, that takes long periods of time, but the act of inclusion, the effort to make someone feel inside a circle is instant.
