The Daily Guide - A daily devotional message

What's better than life? by Pastor Simon Measures
*Bible verse:*

Because your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You.

Psalm 63:3 - NKJV
*Reflection:*

After reading on many occasions the verse above I finally asked the Lord,
"In what way can Your lovingkindness be better than life?" Within me I heard
His Spirit respond, "It is better in its power to keep you than the temporal
life you have here." As I pondered this I thought of a British politician
who died very suddenly. He was a man full of life but this was not able to
preserve him. Temporal life is passing but God's lovingkindness is able to
keep you.

"Lovingkindness" is often the word of choice when the Hebrew word "keced" is
translated. Other times "keced" is translated with the word "mercies". It's
"mercies" that is used in Lamentations 3:22. In that verse Jeremiah
proclaims, "Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed." What good news!
Jeremiah reveals that God's mercies are there preventing the enemies of our
existence destroying us. Jesus revealed the same thing. Jesus in essence
told the people, "You could get killed anytime but enter into a proper
relationship with God and you can come to experience God keeping you."
Luk.13:1-5.

You can rely on God's mercies to keep you! God's lovingkindness toward you
has free expression in God's new relationship with you through Jesus. This
new covenant in Jesus has forgiveness, peace and salvation! Call on His
mercies to keep you. God has His lovingkindness for you and towards you. His
desire is for you to experience this in your life!
Trust in God's lovingkindness and it will keep you
