Take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Ephesians 6:13 - NKJV
One of the things that marks out a mature Christian is the ability to withstand in the evil day. Where does such ability come from? Spiritually it comes from your wearing the whole armour of God. A Christian clad in God's armour is so enabled to withstand adversity and the day of trial.
Having done all, do you stand? Do you say, "I've prayed and I've received both the Lord's guidance and His equipping so now here I stand in the place of the resulting decision!" To stand for what you've decided on is essential if you are to reach the good place your decision was meant to take you too. To take a stand means you hold out against adversity and continue in the God-guided decision you've made until the vision is accomplished. Your stand in your decision means not backing off or shifting from place to place. Those who are constantly moving from one position to another don't prosper. Indeed, changing courses of action from one week to the next prevents progress towards any given goal. Ja.1:2-8.
Realise this, it won't be long before you'll face adversity when you make a God-guided decision and embark on the actions it requires. Such adversity pushes the indecisive off the road of opportunity. It is only the committed that continue on. Sadly many Christians fail to weather the storm of adversity. Often they question their decision. Once that happens they start beholding the conditions and looking for an easier way. Guard against this. Wear the whole armour of God and in it - having done all - stand! Prov.24:10; Heb.10:35-36.
