Getting rid of wood

Nakashima Conoid Chair 
  It is 16 degrees off the vertical, and the chair bottom slopes up 6 degrees from the horizontal. Thus the slot in the leg has to be ten degrees from a perpendicular line off of the front end of the leg. The chair bottom is shaped, by me at least, by spoon planes of varying sizes. There are schemes for building jigs to rout out most of it, but I think they're more trouble than they're worth unless you plan on making a lot of them.... more »

  Hi Jason Here are a few shots of my solutions. The best ones are what you evolve over time, so don't try to get it "perfect." It will happen gradually. What you see first is a veritas twin screw vise mounted on the end of the bench. I have drilled out for three dowels with a little shoulder on each, so that boards can be planed using these as stops.... more »

  I moved to Hong Kong recently and want to take up woodworking again.
