can't delete nodes and edges and startup error message version 2.6.3

Hi, I downloaded Cytoscape 2.6.3 to my mac and imported few network
in .xgmml format and I can't delete nodes nor edges. nothing happens
when I press 'delete'. I was able to delete selected edge and node by
right click but it only worked few times and now it doesn't.
Also, I am trying to use some plugin, whenever I put its jar file in
the plugins folder Cytoscape starts up with the following error
message:

when I remove the jar from the plugins folder it runs normally.

This happened to me before and was fixed after I updated the java
version, but I updated it yesterday when the problems began so this is
probably something else now.

Do you have any suggestions?

Try saving the file as .cys rather than xgmml. also the jar file may not work due to its incomaptibility with your cytoscape version, check through the plugin documentation.

"Bad version number in .class file" sounds like wrong java version to
me.
