Hi there,

We're trying to use GINY in a home grown molecular correlation network
software called “SysNet”
to be able to display spring embedded layouts.
However, information on http://csbi.sourceforge.net/ is very limited.

Anyone out there who can help with hints, pointers, docs, examples,
etc.
It will be really appreciated.

Also, since we're new to cytoscape, how much cytoscape depends on GINY
and how it's using it (I know it's bit of a broad question, but any
hints ...)

Thanks,

-Mourad

Hi Mourad,

The Cytoscape project still uses a few GINY interfaces in 2.6.3, but they exist at a low level and we don't encourage people to write directly to the GINY APIs.  GINY hasn't see active development (that I'm aware of) in several years.  Instead we recommend that people use the Cytoscape APIs.  Here are some tutorials that can help you get started with developing for Cytoscape:  http://cytoscape.org/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/cytoscape_developer_tutorial

thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your answer.
Sorry to bother you again but can you direct me to the part of
Cytoscape
that takes care of displaying spring embedded layouts.

Thanks,

-Mourad
