Subject: Cytoscape 2.6.3

Hi Everyone,

The Cytoscape team would like to announce the arrival of version 2.6.3 of
Cytoscape.  This release addresses bugs introduced because of Apple's recent
security upgrade for OS X.  Specifically, this release fixes the problems
of:

   - Misshapen windows and panels within windows.
   - Disappearing menus.

This release doesn't introduce any new features and shouldn't impact Windows
or Linux users.  We anticipate another release that will include bug fixes
and usability tweaks sometime in the next few months.  The downloads are now
available on our website:

http://cytoscape.org

thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

is there some information on what plugin developers have to care about
to get the plugins working on apple computers properly?

This is a great question.  There were two things that we did:

   - We updated the swing-layout jar which solved most of the misshapen
windows problems.  You should see this update automatically.
   - To solve the disappearing menus problem, we made sure every dialog was
created with a parent component.  For Cytoscape this generally means calling
the method Cytoscape.getDesktop() which returns an extension of a JPanel.
This object can then be used as a constructor argument for a JDialog or
   JOptionPane.

thanks,
Mike
