Dear Cytoscape Users,

In order to continue development and support of the Cytoscape
application, we rely heavily on grant support from the NIH. We are
right now in the process of preparing an application to add support
to Cytoscape as part of an NCRR National Resource for Network
Analysis and Visualization.

This funding will allow us to greatly expand our Cytoscape
development activities.  In particular, we are in the process of
developing the next major release of Cytoscape, version 3.0,
which will include supporting for scripting, functionality as a
web server and in command line mode, and a greatly accelerated
and customizable visualization engine.

The NCRR resource will also enable Cytoscape user support,
training and dissemination efforts, which are always
key issues requested by our users but have been very difficult
to fund through the usual funding mechanisms. In particular, we
will be able to establish a help desk, development of a
series of tutorials, and support a "Roving Cytoscape Engineer"
position who will visit sites of significant Cytoscape usage
in order to address specific needs of those users.

We are asking for letters of support to be included in our upcoming
grant application. Specifically, we would like to know how Cytoscape
has been beneficial to your work and how a more powerful and
flexible version of Cytoscape would be valuable to your future work.
Your letter will be invaluable for our grant application since it will
provide evidence of the extensive support of Cytoscape in the
community. We realize your time is at a premium but even a short
letter would be much appreciated.

the next two weeks, and by September 18th at the latest.
