Prenatal Cytogenetic Troubleshooting Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/DTVSBTT
Technical advances are changing the field of Prenatal Cytogenetic Testing. These technical advances include the ability to obtain fetal cells through noninvasive means, and to screen the genome of these fetal cells using aCGH and whole genome sequencing platforms. The immediate consequences of these technical advances have been an overall reduction in the volume of prenatal cytogenetic requests across the nation.
Prenatal Cytogenetic work requires trained professionals certified in the field of cytogenetics, who are well versed in troubleshooting in the areas of specimen processing, culture set-up and harvesting and banding. With less labs, receiving high specimen volumes or even offering prenatal testing, online chat rooms such as cytogenetics- methods-and-tr...@googlegroups.com and labge...@yahoogroups.com remain, the primary way that professionals can ask troubleshooting advice from their professional colleges as laboratory issues arise on a day to day basis.
This is a short survey to assess common troubleshooting methods used in those labs currently offering prenatal cytogenetic testing in 2013.
This survey will only take a few minutes of your time to complete.
This information is confidential and will only be used to analyze the data across groups of respondents (e.g. respondents from varying geographic regions) We would like to survey as many cytogenetic technicians, technologists, supervisors, managers and directors as possible so please forward the link to this survey along to your colleagues.
If you have questions about or need assistance with this survey, please contact Vicki L. Hopwood at (713) 563-3093 or vhop...@mdanderson.org.
Survey results will be shared with all interested and will be presented at a workshop at the AGT Meeting in Las Vegas Nevada on June 6, 2013.
