Hi everyone

Spent the day in Paphos today. Saw my first Hoopoe at the Paphos Headland and a lovely Bluethroat at the Paphos Sewage Works. Also found the Great Spotted Cuckoo in the Asprokremnos Dam carpark area but was wondering if there may be two. I could see the bird but then heard one calling and the call seemed to come from elsewhere. Has anyone else seen more than one there?

These are my sightings for the day -

Paphos Headland

Hoopoe, Ruddy Turnstone, Green Sandpiper, Golden Plover c20, Woodlark 3 plus lots of the species usually seen there at this time of year - Sardinian Warbler, Stonechat, Great Tit, Meadow Pipit, Chaffinch, Fan-tailed Warbler, Song Thrush, Godlfinch, Corn Bunting, Greenfinch, White Wagtail, Serin, Robin, Black Redstart, Crested Lark, Skylark.

Paphos Sewage Works

Bluethroat, Sardinian Warbler (2M and 1F), c400 Wood Pigeon, Song Thrush 2, Skylark 20+, Meadow Pipit 20+, Stonechat, Kestrel, Chukar

Mandria

Wood Pigeon 100+, Skylark 30+,  Meadow Pipit 8+, Black Francolin (H), Song Thrush 6, White Wagtail 2.

Aspro Dam Car Park

Great Spotted Cuckoo 1 (?2), Cyprus Warbler 1m, Serin 4+

All the best

Jane

Many thanks for this Jane. It's lovely to know that there is at least one Hoopoe on the island. I went out Saturday morning and came back home to walk up the hill - it was far too windy on the coast.
Cheers
June
