Ganymede's P2 has changed the way plugins are installed. If you are
using Ganymede, do
not unzip the files into the plugins directory. Rather unzip the
plugin jars into
<Eclipse home>/dropins/Cypal/plugins You have to manually create the
Cypal and plugins
directories.
but Cypal doesn't show up in my Ganymede preferences. I did find some
contradictory
online advice about installing directly into plugins/. Help please?
Environment: Ganymede Version: 3.4.1 (Build id: M20080911-1700)
running on Mac OS 10.5.5.

I read the wiki link above and checked my local file 'bundles.info'; there's no indication of
any cypal component. I also looked at some log files in the p2/ folder and don't see any
cypal entry. Finally, I dropped the three jars into the dropins/ folder directly and that didn't seem to help.

Created a new workspace; also started Eclipse with the -clean option. Also checked the
eclipse error log, which is empty.
It looks like the cypal component isn't being seen at all. Can you think of anything else
I can try to troubleshoot this problem?

Well, I downloaded a fresh instance of Ganymede, installed it and
deployed Cypal as recommended
and it showed up as expected in my Preferences. I'm guessing there's
an interaction with some other plugin
I have installed (and I've got quite a few of those). Thanks for the
earlier help.

Using an existing Ganymede release (official release but probably
needs some updates):
If i put the Cypal jars directly in the dropins folder, it works.
If i put the Cypal jars in a dropins/plugins/Cypal, etc it does not
work.
So since i don't have anything else in my dropins dir, I just leave
them in there.

Hi
Even I have not been able to get cypal in my preferences.
I have downloaded the "Web Tools Platform All-In-One Packages" in
order to avoid choosing from all the options.
Am using eclipse 3.3 on mac OS-X.
I have followed all the steps as told above.
Adn in the first place there was no "dropin" directory when I
installed eclipse. Does that mean I have the wrong version of eclipse.
