Well, as of 6pm MST yesterday, Google Powermeter stopped getting
updated for some reason. I went through the usual steps of:
1. checking if the bridge was frozen (which it wasn't)
2. checked if my.currentcost.net was getting updated with the latest
info (which it was)
3. used the Google Powermeter connection test which Current Cost set
up on the website and it says that my bridge is properly connected
AND
4. I manually reconnected the bridge to Powermeter (which succeeded)
Currently, Google Powermeter still has not updated. What is going on
here! Getting kind of tired of the lost data. Can someone from Current
Cost chime in on this.
I have the same issue too..!!! its being almost 10 hours now that
google power meter doesnt update i cannot understand the reason..
I found this most disturbing....

The problem I have is that I work away from home and my family are not
IT savvy enough to be able to sort this stuff out. What other product
out there requires you to assign IP addresses, constantly check green
and amber blinky blinks, hard reset (which means losing data) etc.
I have bought a product that has been marketed as a power monitor and
data capture device. The monitor bit is fine but the data capture?
What a joke. My wife objected to the purchase of this setup, so what
do you think she is saying now? When the ENVI and Bridge are marketed
as a power monitoring solution it should work out of the box. It
shouldn't require the end user to have a Bachelor in Communication
Engineering to get it to work let alone get any form of consistency.
So the question I ask Current Cost is: Have I bought a lemon?

You may want to send these to the google forum. GPM will store while work is being done to the site. Otherwise you can use your CCdash for info to check energy consumption.

This really is pitiful support. Do current cost ever read or reply to these posts? Over the last few weeks I keep loosing large chunks of a day. And it seems the history display on the Current Cost dashboard is also broken. With modern cloud based services people expect services to work 24/7.
They do -- or rather "he" does. There is one person that's
responsible for writing the code, checking bug reports, making bug
fixes, and watching this forum for problems.
I suspect he is on "holiday" as the brits call it -- that seems to be
the case whenever a problem crops up.
Yeah, something is telling me I should have spent the extra $$ for the
TED -- as CurrentCost seems to be a shoddy establishment, at best.
Support is virtually non-existent... They give one guy the
responsibility for writing the code, fixing the problems, and
responding to bug reports.. And when he is on vacation, guess what?
There is nobody around other than someone from currentcost to let us
know "Sorry, we know you are frustrated, but our programmer has gone
on holiday!"

Hey Sandy, what's the story with obtaining information through
pachube. How did you do that? Could you point to a source that
documents how this is setup?

The issues we are talking about are not about the ISP dropouts but
service reliability on Current Cost's part. All of the data is being
reported to my.currentcost.net for most of us here which means it is
not an ISP or connection issue at the bridge location. The same data
is not being reported to GPM, despite Current Cost reporting that the
bridge is communicating with GPM the data is not showing up in a
timely manner (in fact, it is a full 24 hours behind).

This is really sad. I myself already lost tons of data because of this
not-so-good web service.
This is sad and after 6 months using the bridge, it seems that Current
Cost does not practice a very professional service around here.
The web service that CC provides which let us upload and log our power
consuption is, in my point of view the weakest link.
Google Power Meter does not have anything to do when there is no data
logged to their services.
Let me explain: Our devices (read The Bridge) only uploads data to
Current Cost (my.currentcost.com). The Bridgs does not upload any data
to Google Power Meter. It is CurrentCost "responsability" to send back
to GPM our data. My.currentcost.com works only as a "proxy" in this
case.
So, to everyone thinking that GPM does not work well, GPM only stores
and graphs data if Current Cost sends it to them...
This brings me to my second point that is:
Why CC don't stop testing new features and implementing all sort of
test things with "production" costumers data?
Why all users need to be test users?
Why all users need to loose their data?
This doesn't seem to me a good approach. In my opinion users that
upload their data to CC should be questioned about their availability
to be beta testers, and even if they accept to be (as I would not mind
to be), ALL beta testing should be made in a second copy of their
data, not the real (production) one.
I know that this is a free service, and we should be aware of that.
That might be the main problem. There might be no budget to run this
service, the development/maintenance team seems too short, to be kind,
and the core business of Current Cost might not be data logging and
graphing. To me there is no problem with all of this, but every user
should be aware of this before registering.
Before I bought The Bridge, I was able to have my data logged to
Pachube for about 5 months (free account) and from here to GPM. During
this period I did not loose a single data sample.
These days, we expect that *every* on-line service should be working
99,999% of the time (that's only 5 minutes of downtime in a year),
yes, 5 minutes in a year! If one is fortunate enough and once GPM only
receives data every 10 minutes, that can virtually mean that you only
loose one sample in a year...
Anyway, forgive me the long post, but seemed to me that someone should
explain to everyone what is the flow of their data. GPM only receives
the data CC send to them. At the same time, Current Cost should
rethink how they manage the infrastructure, implement updates and new
features.
Thanks for reading.

Sorry to hear the issues here. In the first instance, can you all try
re-registering the bridge with Google PowerMeter: in the Devices
Panel at my.currentcost.com, click the "Register Google PowerMeter"
button next to the device. Follow the instructions to return back to
my.currentcost.com.
If this still does not resolve the issue, please can you email your
serial number to : chris.dalby at currentcost .com
Missing data can be patched, so I'd like to resolve what has caused
this issue.
On Thursday the CurrentCost data stream paused for about a day and
then it started updating but the data had several hours of lag or time
delay. I noticed today (Monday) there is no difference in the data
streams and there was no loss of data other than a delay. I did not
reset or restart anything - just a lazy observer.

The API was shown on the dashboard a while back. It's not available now. Not sure why. You can use the API to gather data on Pachube or your own fashioned website.

Well, I believe Monday, my data to GPM started to get posted up.. I do
believe the Google API limits the rate at which batch data can be
uploaded, which is why it took several hours for us to see the data
eventually get caught up to the current time.. I'm not experiencing
the issue anymore, and now everything is current with GPM.

Regarding the Google API data rate and batch uploading the online docs
mention a 1000 record limit but nothing is said about the rate. I have
run into rate limits on the current cost data with Pachube but haven't
had any issues with Google data streams. I have copied the Google
powermeter API link below that describes the batch upload. It is good
news to see your data appear and sometimes there is a clog in the data
stream that wears one's patience thin.

Users have reported the missing data has populated. This was not
caused by a throttling or batch upload related issues on our side.
I'm going to find out more from Google.
