Subject: Important:
http://www.mylifetime.com/my-lifetime-commitment/breast-cancer/petiti... This is important. It shouldn't be political, but apparently the politicians have been messing it up for several years now and I think you'll agree that this needs to be fixed.
Since 1997, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut has repeatedly been trying to get a bill passed that would make it mandatory that insurance companies allow that a patient may stay in the hospital for at least 48 hours after having a mastectomy. Presently, some people are being sent home just a few hours after the procedure - often scared, and always sore and hurting. But every time the Bill was presented to the House, it "died" in committee. Every time, since 1997!
I checked it out at Snopes: http://www.snopes.com/politics/medical/mastectomy.asp
As of March of 2009, not only has the Congresswoman again presented this Bill or protection, but Senator Snowe has also presented one to the Senate. So each body has similar Bills now "in committee".
What do you think the chances are that these bills will again be allowed to simply expire at the end of this session? I think someone might well be able to restore, and perhaps multiply the whole amount of their lost 401K money taking that bet ...
... Unless you help.
You need to do two things:
1. Call the people who are supposed to be representing you in Washington and suggest that they care about the health of women before they figure out how to spend one more dime of your children's money. And ...
2. "Sign" this petition: http://www.mylifetime.com/my-lifetime-commitment/breast-cancer/petiti...
It takes only a few sections to sign the petition, and -
Think of all of the fear, pain, and suffering you can help alleviate by spending just minutes calling Washington.
Doesn't it seem that if you act on this, you could be helping untold millions of women?
But, then, conversely, couldn't not acting on this have just the opposite effect?
