So, I'm going through the characters for my game tonight, and chatting with the player of the resident Mad Scientist - and a thought occurred, that she might like her character to save points on Gadgeteer by having it in a Focus. Being new to actually using the WT system for developing powers, I thought I'd check the maths.

As I understand it, each of the Gadgeteer Qualities is worth 5pts per die except the fourth, which is 1pt and so can't be reduced. So putting it in a focus (like a special toolbelt) would reduce each of those 3 by one, making it a 13pt per die power. Is that right?

The idea we had went further - make the Focus a bulky (-1) bit of lab equipment, which requires several assistants to work (-2) - would that make it a 4pt power? Then she'd be tied to her lab for making and disassembling gadgets, but could afford a lot more dice and Base Will. Have I got that right?
