Damage Field Miracle?

Doctor Victor Sampson

“The Galvanic Man – Wonder of the Electrical Age!”

OK, this guy's sort of a walking battery. He's another weird science
apothecary - someone who played around with the electrical potential
of his body. I want him to able to charge up; he can touch others and
shock them, or just wait until others touch him. His energy field is
pretty obvious and a bit unsettling. He should has a touch range. This
is my first effort to create this miracle.

I Sing the Galvanic Body! (A,U) 5 ppd

Attacks Extras: Duration+2, Go First +2, Penetration +1
Flaws: If/Then (Must first rub hands together vigorously) -1, No
Capacities -2 [4]

I could add erratic flaw, to create weird, random, electrical/magnetic
side effects. That could be fun.

Useful: Source of Electrical Energy
Extras: Burn +2 (can create fires by touch, if he wants to)
Flaws: If/Then (Must first rub hands together vigorously) -1, No
Capacities -2 [1]

Light Armor (D) 1 ppd [1 total ] Capacities: Self
Extras: Permanent +4
Flaws: Armored Defense -2, Horrifying -1, If/Then (only when I Sing
the Galvanic Body! is on) -1, Obvious -1 (His body glows a bit, his
eyes light up brightly, and there is an ozone smell and electrical
crackling)

I'd buy this in HD. Of course, a Heavy Armor version would work too.


Because Light Armor has Permanent, does it activate automatically when
ISTGB! is powered up?


Does the Attacks for ISTGB work? Presumably I'd roll the dice when it
is activated, and that would be the ongoing attack roll for the
Duration?

If Doctor Victor Sampson wants to attack, he rolls Brawl (or whatever)
and does not have to roll multiple sets, since his attacks quality is
ongoing and already set. No?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You might also want electrocution on the attack considering its electricity ;)

I thought about that, but I've been shocked a few times, and it never
seemed to work like that when it happened to me. I might do so
anyway.

No problems with the basic write-up?

Coming in a little late...

For ISTGB, pretty sure you want Touch Capacity -2 instead of No Capacities -2.  As it is now, it will make a single touch-range attack every turn; if he needs to make a Brawl roll on top of that, you'll want Attached ( Brawl ) -2.

I've been tinkering with a damage shield effect for my Really Completely Invulnerable Girl (people... and trains... etc. hurt *themselves* when trying to hurt her) and would probably attach a Permanent A quality with an If/Then (Only Idiots Who Touch Me In Melee Without Insulation) -2 and Obvious ( ZAPPO! ) -1 to the LAR.

Also, an Attached quality with Permanent will automatically activate without a multiple action unless the character chooses not to.  If they cannot suppress it, take the Always On -1 Flaw.

Your input is still very much welcome. I'll have to play with the
Miracle a bit. I'll post it again in a day or three. I think that -2
might be a bit much for the Only Idiots Who Touch Me In Melee Without
Insulation. I suspect that insulated opponents are going to be pretty
rare - not much of a disad, really.

I was just predicting that most people will be disinclined to punch (or knife) someone crackling with electricity, especially if they have an energy blast or gun handy. :-)

My thought process during the design of the damage field:

I want an Attacks Quality in my Miracle that automatically causes
damage when contact is made, no matter who initiates contact. I don't
want to have to re-roll frequently - just switch it on and let it run.
I choose the Range Power Capacity and the Touch Capacity Flaw for -2.
I don’t understand why anyone would go straight for the default Touch
Power Capacity. What would be the point?

I choose Duration because I want the character to be able to leave
their power off if they want, or switch it on for a scene when needed
and keep it running. Upon switching it on, I believe that I roll the
dice and the set (if any) that I roll is my continuous Attack until
the Duration is over. Thus, I can have the PC do other things, whether
Attacking or Defending in various ways, while his “Body Electric”
keeps going. He should be able to grab or hit others without having to
split his die pool, I think. He will have to split his pool if he
wants to shock more than one target per round though.

I add Electrocuting, Go First +1, and Non-Physical +2 (Being insulated
or having Control (Electricity) with the Defends Quality) to the
Attacks Quality.

I choose Erratic -1 and If/Then (Must first rub hands together
vigorously to activate the Miracle) -1

So, my Attacks Quality adds up to 4 ppd

On to Useful: Source of Electrical Energy
Extras: Burn +2 (can create fires by touch)

Capacity -2
The Useful Quality seems relatively simple. It costs 1 ppd


So, I Sing the Body Electric costs 5 ppd
