I don't know why I hadn't thought to ask this question before...

In Godlike, Talents can tell when another Talent in line of site uses their powers. The "Talents can tell other Talents" thing is a cool part of Godlike.

How does this work with a character with Invisibility or Hyperstealth? Can an invisible Talent be detected by other Talents? Or is the requirement that a Talent be in "line of sight" of another Talent mean the invisible Talent can't be detected because, by definition, he isn't in "line of sight"?

Your original supposition is correct if I remember correctly. That's
the reason why they keep low powered talents as guards in critical
places- to defend against invisibility and shapeshifting.

You have to see him.  So if he's invisible or stealthed you can't see him to detect him.  They keep the lower powered talents around as guards because most Talents aren't obvious and you don't want that instant death spy getting to close to the General or President.

Is that right? I thought that Talents weren't obvious as Talents
unless they were using their powers...

Well many Talent powers are always on, especially Hyper-Stats.  However the big one is seeing another Talent.  So if that instant death spy walks up and sees another Talent he is now using his "see another Talent" talent and therefore stands out to other Talents.

See the text that Dennis quoted in another post. The Talent's power has to be active before you know he's a Talent.

Instant Death Spy can walk up past another Talent, but unless either one of them is using their power at that moment the Talent Guard doesn't know Instant Death Spy is a Talent.

That having been said, it's trivially easy to put a low grade Talent at the door to check everyone walking in. In the background, the FBI were given militarily useless Talents when Hoover demanded Talents. They were still useful, though, in that they could detect other Talents and could use Will to shut down other Talents.

So, you guard the front door to the White House with Matter Eater Lad. All he can do is eat inedible objects, so you have him snacking on a bowl of rocks as he stares at the tourists walking in. His power is on, it doesn't do much, but the moment Matter Eater Lad glances at  Instant Death Spy, the jig, as they say, is up.

(And, honestly, that would be a cool campaign to run: a bunch of G-men with useless Talents hunting down Fifth Columnists and gangsters Stateside.)
