Subject: FireWire Plug-ins for DV Device Control and Export
I know that this doesn't have immediate significance with MCL but one day
soon I hope it will.

I'm starting to code up a high-level application in MCL that will allow for
controlling of digital video cameras through Apple's FireWire SDK. This
software will be used for creating and performing feature recognition on
audio-visual speech databases. End applications include, e.g., audio-visual
speech synthesis, recognition, phonetic studies, etc.

Does anyone have these "standard" Apple plug-ins sitting on their hard
drive that I just can't seem to find anywhere?

I've tried now for three consecutive days (!) to get 2 different DV cameras
(a Sony 3 CCD model, and Panasonic's AG-EZ 10 model) to talk to a Newer
Technology FireWire 2 Go PC card on this PowerBook G3/300 - with no
success. The card does mount successfully on the desktop but that is as far
as I've gotten.

As applications to read data from the video camera I've tried using EditDV
Unplugged 1.6.1, Adobe Premiere 5.1a, and finally Apple's own Video Player
- all with the same level of success, i.e., failure. None of these programs
recognizes that there is a FireWire card available from which to read the
video data.

Looking at Adobe Premiere's "Capture Card Apple Macintosh G3 with FireWire
- Guidelines" document it says that I should copy two Apple FireWire
plug-ins which can be found in the "Apple Extras:FireWire:Adobe Premiere
Plug Ins" folder called:

1) DV Device Control
2) DV Export

into my Adobe Premiere's plug-in folder.

If anybody has access to these Apple plug-ins, please send them to me! I
can't find them anywhere. Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.
