Hi ctpug

I do quite a lot of things in python now. All my recent projects are
in python, and I love it dearly. I want more people to learn python so
that it becomes more popular so that when I tell my clients that I
want to implement their project in python, they don't wince and say:
"Yes, but where will we find future developers?".

I also have a training room (http://sudoroom.com) which between CTPUG
meetings, is mostly unused. I want to start up python workshops aimed
at existing programmers (.NET?) who want to learn more about python
coolness.

For this I need:
1. A venue (yup, got that, tick)
2. Python guru's (you guys)
3. People who want to learn python (I have a few already)

I'd like to charge people to come to these workshops. Proceeds would
cover sudoroom rent and python guru fees.

Comments? Suggestions?
Fancy being an instructor now and then?

Hi

I'd be interested in attending. Not a practicing programmer though, so
I would need to attend more beginner-oriëntated training. If that
won't be on offer, can you perhaps point me in the right direction? I
would also pay for one-on-one tutoring. The immediate programming
problems I need to solve are quite basic.

Please help.
Thanks
Dewald

Edward,

We use Django for some substantial commercial solutions, and I will gladly contribute some training on real-world implementations of Django.

Regards,

Marius

Hey Edward,

Great Idea, been thinking of doing this for sometime now (not specifically for .NET programmers, but for people wanting to start out in programming, so the basic OO programming concepts, then python)

I would be more than happy to give some intro to python talks, following the python tut or dive into python or some such documents.
Do you have any Course in mind?

Kind regards,
Graeme

If you have hordes of .NET developers it might not be a bad idea to
look a IronPython, which seems to be coming along quire nicely (this
opinion based solely on the occasional posts I see on the the
python-dev list :).

I guess a lot about the course will be determined by the format and by
the attendees.

If it's a six week course with full-time lectures every day, one can
go into some depth but a course which runs on a couple of evenings is
going to have to be rather more focused.

If your attendees are mostly Windows developer's and intend to develop
with Python on Windows it's going to really help if the instructor is
familiar with using Python on Windows (and especially if the attendees
want to connect into the Windows world of MSSQL, IIS and COM objects).

I'd consider helping out on the instructing front, although it might
be cool to have the CTPUG regulars involved as a unit somehow -- maybe
we could do something fun like a stump-the-panel evening or put
together a Python obstacle course [1].

[1] I have no idea what the details of this would look like, but it
sounds cool. :)
