MAYOR SEGARRA ISSUES STATEMENT REGARDING INDEPENDENT ETHICS DECISON

---NEWS AND COMMUNITY STATEMENT---

(May 11, 2011) --- Hartford Mayor Pedro E. Segarra has issued the following statement regarding his request to have Corporation Counsel and the Ethics Commission seek an outside opinion regarding potential conflicts of interest and violation(s) of the City’s ethics code:

“The fundamental finding in this opinion is that no wrongdoing or inappropriate benefit was ever conferred or sought and that any oversight was corrected via the amended filings. HUD also agreed that nothing inappropriate occurred. This city has huge challenges that are being addressed and political distractions like this only hurt the residents in the end.”
