Special kudos and congrats to TinCan and Karen Michaelson for winning
not one but two BTOP grants -- and to the city of Boston, too, for
winning one of the Public Computer Center awards. It'll be
interesting how the CTCs, public housing, and library sites develop.
Let this announcement serve AFCN people, too, such as they are
reachable, what with afcn.org being down for a while.

Thursday's announcement (via www.Broadbandusa.gov or directly at
www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/vice-president-biden-kicks-72-billion-recovery-act-broadband-program),
alas, shows $173 million for middle and last mile infrastructure
awards and only six awards totaling $9.7 million for Public Computing
Centers and Sustainable Adoption.

BTOP is being a disappointing successor to TOP and the federal CTC
program, isn't it? -----peter
