John had just finished up with his file transfer and his talks with
several of the other CSec's in the battlegroup. He felt stressed out and
decided he would head down to the holodeck for maybe thirty minutes. He
then saw a reminder pop up on his desk monitor. {{ damn, i still have to
talk to the admiral.}}

John pulled up and sent the Admiral a message requesting for a little of
his time to deal with a security matter. After he sent the message, he
headed to the mess hall to get a little bit to eat and drink.

Starcher had just left and Roberts dropped in his chair with a sigh.
This wasn't the time for them to go around putting each other in
sickbay, and he needed his people so he couldn't just transfer them off,
not that he would just yet.  The beeping on his terminal caught his
attention.  He pulled it up then sighed and tapped his comm badge,
"Roberts to Kirk, I'm in my Ready Room."

John stopped in the corridor and put his arm against the bulkhead. He
didn't think the Admiral was going to get to him this quickly. He tapped
his comm badge. "This Kirk, I'm on my way now." He said as he headed to
the nearest turbolift, as he stepped into the lift he called out deck 1.
He leaned against the wall and pulled up all the policies he wanted to
get approved but then had his own request that he hoped to get approved.
He felt the lift come to a stop and he headed out to the bridge. He saw
some new crewmembers on duty on the bridge. He walked towards the Ready
Room doors and pressed the button to alert the Admiral inside.

"Enter," the Admiral called and stood up, "Lieutenant, have a seat.
What can I do for you?" he asked and sat back down.

John walks and and nods his head at the Admiral. " Well sir, i have been
working on the the new policies. And you probably aren't going to like
them sir. It requires that a security team accompanies you while you go
on an away mission, and whenever you leave the ship. Also a few other
rules i guess you could call them for the rest of the BATGRU. Just
incase of Borg, Hirogen, or your doubles decide to attack. " He said as
he slid the PADD to the Admiral. "I also have a personal request, sir.
Regarding a family runabout on the Indianapolis."

"I'm not accepting an entourage, period, Lieutenant," he said then read
over the rest, "and why don't you explain the rules and the runabout
request a bit more," he said and folded his hands on his desk.

John smiled at the Admirals denial. " Sir, can we at least give it a try
for a few away missions. I would rather you come back unharmed instead
of coming back in several pieces. I don't wish to endure the Commander's
wrath. The rules for the group, would be that all away missions are to
be armed and to always be alert. Also there is to be an armed shuttle on
standby to do an emergency evacuation in case of transporter failure.
The security personnel is to be armed onboard during yellow alert and
red alert. I don't want us to be caught with our pants down again
especially after the Jem'Hadar attack on Enterprise. I have gotten all
suggestions and ideas from the rest of the BATGRU CSecs. So i bring them
to you with utmost confidence. And I guess you could say the runabout
request is I started modifying the shuttle 5 years ago sir. I have all
the parts onboard that runabout that i need to make the modifications
complete. I just wonder if i can beam over to Indianapolis and retrieve
it and request to keep it in our shuttlebay, so i could continue the
modifications and so i know its safe here onboard." He replied with a
hint of a smile.

He shook his head, "Lieutenant, my last ground combat mission was right
before I entered the dreamscape with y'all, I'm not exactly you standard
rusty two star," he said with a sigh, "I'll accept it only when the
situation calls for it, but it wont be every away away mission, and I
reserve the right to tell them to stay here," he finished then nodded
and scrolled through the PADD then looked up, "the rest looks good,
however, you'll need to clear your shuttle with Corbin, it's her deck
and you'll be storing your parts on her shelves."

John smiled. "I understand sir. I've seen your file, I know that you
were the one who started First Force. Just give it a try. The only
officers that will accompany you will be myself and Ens. Atradies, if
the occasion arises. And sir, you might like the modifications i'm using
for this shuttle, I offer an invitation to come down and inspect it if
you wish." He said with a smile. He started to get up and then looked
back at the Admiral and was about to say something and shook his head
and kept his mouth shut. " Permission to be dismissed, sir." He said at
attention.

"Denied, have a seat and tell me what else is on your mind," he said
with a smile having caught the open and close, "I've had that look
plenty of times, Kirk."

John looked down with a sigh of defeat. He sat back down and looked down
at the ground, his log was bouncing a bit and then he looked back up at
the Admiral. " Sir, I hate to bring this up while in a time of war, my
fiance is worried for me sir. She saw the wounds and seen the files on
what had happened to me within the last few months since I've been here.
But then I have been reckless and thrown myself in harm's way everytime
that a fellow crewmember is in danger. And with this possibility of
doubles she is scared as hell that I'll get myself killed. How do you
put your own wife at ease about stuff like this?" He asked with a look
of emotion on his face.

"John," he started and sat back, Carrie and he had had this conversation
a number of times through the years, "there's no way to put her at ease,
our job is dangerous, even in peace time, yours doubly so.  But what you
and she need to understand is it's part of the job, you can't really get
around it, even if you were the power transfer officer crewman on deck
twenty one who never leaves the ship," he started, "my wife and I aren't
always comfortable with it, but we try to make the most of every day we
have together," he paused then grinned, "besides, I'm afraid of my wife,
if I got my self killed she'd bring me back to kill me again," he added
jokingly.

John chuckled at the the Admirals last comment. "That afraid of her huh
sir? I don't know she didn't seem all that scary. But you have a point
and it seems that i will have to do so with her. But sir i have I guess
you could call a bad dream but i feel its more of a premonition as well.
Since we left zetari, I have been having a recurring dream. I see us
being attacked by the Borg and losing about half of the ship to them.
And its worse than the reports i have been reading. I have modified
every weapon so it will be effective against the borg. I have been
sending communiques to Ambassador Tuvok and he sent me everything
Voyager had done with their Hazard Team. I have even been replicating
the IMod and improving its design and reload times." He said with a bit
of pride, and fear in his voice.

The CO nodded, "sounds like a plan, Lieutenant....and don't worry to
much about the Borg, they've been relativly quiet since we launched an
all out assault on them and nearly wiped them out," he replied and
smiled, "the IMods good though...just a word of advice, don't get to
consumed in your work, John, trust me."

John nodded his head. " Permission to be dismissed, sir. You did catch
me right when i was heading to the mess hall." He said with a small
chuckle. He was glad the Admiral at least help put his worries to rest.

"Granted...and John, really nice job with the battle group security, get
with Drake and get those regs dispersed," he said with a nod and smile.

John nodded his head and headed out of the ready room and towards the turbolift.
