=/\= Admiral Roberts Ready Room =/\=
"Starcher we need to talk, wait in my ready room." Those were the words
of the Admiral as he was dismissing everyone from the briefing. Knowing
the Admiral must have read the report from the doctor by now, he
acknowledged the Admiral and left the briefing room. Walking out of the
briefing room and across the bridge to the ready room he keyed in his
access code and entered.
Once inside the ready room Shadow stood off to the right side at parade
rest waiting on the Admiral. This didn't mean he didn't have a chance to
look around and get familiar with his surroundings, he was after all
First Force trained and if the Admiral ever needed a room to take cover
in it should be well guarded and offer amenities so he could hold out
until First Force operators arrived to escort him to safety.
Jason walked in about twenty minutes later after talking to Carrie and
didn't say anything to Starcher. He moved around the man and tossed a
PADD on the desk before turning to face him, no furniture between them,
and crossed his arms, "I think you know why your here, so talk fast,"
the Admiral said simply, looking the other dead in the eye.
Comes to attention when the Admiral enters. "If you are reffering to the
situation with the doctor, then let me start out by saying, I never said we
were Gods. I simply said we train hard and play even harder meaning we train
harder than most any other unit in Starfleet so that we can be prepared to
accomplish our missions. As for the Doctor her bedside manner was a little
lacking in compassion" he continued to stay at attention and waited for the
Admiral to speak.
"Allow me to quote you exactly, we are First Force we train hard and
play even harder Doctor. I mean intense as we were training in hand to
hand combat," he said not breaking eye contact, "that sounds more like
chest beating the giving information, what do you think?" he asked,
obviously not happy.
"My apologies Admiral, I understand where it looks like chest beating and I
will endeavor to learn to give more details and less pride. His eyes drop
to the floor he had not meant to be so prideful. His intentions had not been
to hide details from the doctor he did however see where the Admiral was
correct.
"Look up, Chief, we haven't even gotten to the bad part yet," he said
and sat on the edge of the desk and motioned to a chair, "how many years
have you been in Starfleet, fifteen?"
Raises his eyes and answers the question, "Aye sir fifteen years"
Roberts nodded, "and in those fifteen years you've served as an intel
officer and as Starfleet Special Forces. Now, I only served in Marine
Force Recon, so maybe they do it different in SSF, but last I checked,
injuring a fellow crewmember was not listed as acceptable, especially
from a man with your experience. Did they think different in the SSF?"
he asked calmly.
"No Sir they did not but in my own defense I did not mean to injure her as
bad is she ended up being injured, my intention was to shock her into
realizing how hard she was going at a simple test of skills", His reply was
even and flat.
He raised any eye brow and let his arms drop to his sides, "you didn't
mean to injure her as bad as she was injured," the Admiral repeated
thoughtfully, "but that means you still intended to injure her. Why did
you not call it if things were getting out of hand? Why did you chose
to take a court marshalable action instead?"
"Sir, I do not quit, I have never been a quiter and will not allow myself to
quit. To call the test off would have been a act of quiting." His voice
still flat and even. "I will stand court marshall if that is the outcome of
this meeting sir, but again I state for the record my intention was to
stun/shock the Lieutenant as it was her test that I was apart of. I am not
saying she has fault, but I wanted her to realize what she was doing."
"And, by that logic, I should break your nose, jaw and a few ribs to get
you to realize your error," he retorted, "sound about right?"
"No sir, it don't sound right. We are not on a holodeck in a hand to hand
combat test. I am here because I did not call of an officers skill test. My
error was letting the test get carried to far as I understand it", his voice
still calm and even and flat.
"No, but it's the same type of a situation, you went to far, just as you
told me Cooper did, and you say the reason, but the way you reply sounds
more like a mimic then an honest answer, especially after you saying
your reason is because your not a quitter," he replied, "you said you
beat her trying to stun her, to show her she was going to far. If I
replay the recording, tell me, am I going to see moves that were meant
to stun, meaning pressure point shots, or am I going to see moves that
were meant to injure because both of you lost control as it escalated?"
"the recorder will show I grab her ankle as she flew towards me with a kick
it will also show my punching her in her femeral artery a pressure point
strike. The first was in defense the strike was meant to stun her leg. So
that I could ask if the test was supposed to be as rough as it had become. I
defend and fight aggressive like I was trained, sometimes I loose my self
control in doing such. His eyes starred straight ahead, he knew he was going
to be court marshaled for striking a Officer and he deserved it for hurting
Alanna so badly, however he wanted to get his side of the story out before
the court marshal.
"Show me what she did, Chief," he said and stood up off the desk and
moved to an open area near the door, "no ranks on this one, come at me
and show me."
Shadow turns his back to the Admiral long enough to scan the wall that was
behind him, Suddenly he jumps up against the wall and spins, his feet plant
against the wall and he springs towards the admiral with his right leg out.
Jason counted off as he watched the SNCO move then dropped to his knee
and ducked down. In nearly the same motion he stuck his middle knuckle
up on each hand and drove both into the Chiefs thighs simultaneously,
not reaching out for a grab or making any other moves.
Lands and his legs buckle from the pressure strikes, he turns on his hips
just in case the Admiral tries to prove his point more. "I understand sir,
my training however was more along the lines of hopkido (grappling, joint
locking, pressure strikes) but I understand your point and have learned from
it, I accept whatever discipline you decide, Sir"
Jason stood up and walked over holding his hand out, "Chief, the lines
of the training became irrelevant the second it got out of hand, the
rest of your training should have allowed you to adapt to that change
when things escalated," he said and helped the man up, "I wont do
anything further, for now," he added, stressing for now, "but if I hear
of any other instances where you escalate along with your sparring
partner to where they get injured again, you'll be a fresh Crewman.
Accidents happen, but there's a fine line."
Takes the offered hand and stands coming to attention again, his legs still
a little shakey. "understood, sir!"
"Good, at ease and dismissed," he said and headed for his desk and
paused, "and Chief, I need a sparring partner not afraid to get a few
strikes on me, call me the next time you go down. Also, pass Lieutenant
Cooper along this warning, she'll be wearing Crewman stripes again too
if she doesn't learn to control her temper, you weren't the only in
trouble, but I trust you can make my point to her?"
"I will call you next time and I will get the point across to the Lieutenant
Sir", after hearing he was dismissed and knowing pretty much the Admiral
wanted the final word, he did nothing more than acknowledge the orders. He
left leaving the admiral to tend to his duties. Shadow walked over to the
turbo lift and stepped inside, his legs feeling better "Deck six" he called.
As he waited for the lift to stop on his deck he thought of how he was going
to approach this with Alanna.
